Abu Saeed Al-Khudri RA

October 28, 2016

(10 before Hijra – 74 AH)

Abu Sa’eed, Sa’ad bin Maalik Sinaan Al-Khudri Al-Ansaari Al-Khazraji was a respected sahaabah, who was always with Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam. He was thirteen years old when his father was martyred, on the Day of (at the Battle of) Uhud, at the side of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam. His father had taken him by the hand and said, “O Messenger of Allah, Indeed he is very plump”. This caused Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam to rise, look at him and consider him. He (the father) said to his son, “Return to him”. Thus, he went to him (Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) and was present with him at the (Battle of) the Khandaq, the Fealty of Ar-Ridwaan and all of the others.

There was not one of the companions of the Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him) who did not learn of the events from Abi Sa’eed Al-Khudri. It has been narrated that his family complained to him of their requirements, so he went to Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam {who was in the Masjid with some of the Companions} and requested the things of them. He stood on the Minbar and said, “O People, the time has come for you to manage your affairs without problems. Indeed entreating is loathsome to Allah and of satisfaction, Allah is content with him. The self (same) is to Mohammed, by His Hand what He has provided and blessed his slave with wealth and a great amount of patience”.

He narrated one thousand one hundred and seventy Hadith of the Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him). Most of his time was spent in the Prophet’s Masjid. He passed away in Al-Madinah in the year 74 A.H.
