TASKEEN’S POINT OF VIEW

It’s the fourth day of Ramadan, and I have found ways to gain closeness to Allah daily. Hearing my husband reciting his dhor makes me fall in love with him again.

“Ya Allah, my husband is not perfect as only you are perfect Allah. Help us to gain your pleasure together.” I prayed silently as my mother had taught me since I could remember.

I am so overjoyed that Aadam and I were having a child together, and I made dua for my beautiful sister Amina to follow suit soon. Allah has been kind to me – I moved from a small town to a city alone. Allah, in all his mercy, gave me a sister and a husband whom I loved dearly, and there was nothing more I wanted for her than for her to become a mother.

“Babe, are you ok? Aadam answered when Taskeen called him. Once he had joined her, she told him about the unfortunate events of the evening.

“I am sorry you have to endure this,” Aadam said as he embraced me.

I smiled but kept silent as I knew there was no point in bad-mouthing his mother to him and making him feel like he must choose a side. This was my cross to carry, and I would do so with honour and dignity.

“Babe, when married, you didn’t know me. Your father saw me in the mosque and approached me. I promised that I would keep you happy. I know my mother is difficult on you, but you are my Queen, and I will protect you, so please talk to me.” Aadam said sincerely as he looked at me.

I smiled and reminded him that Ramadan a time to get closer to Allah and learn to place our trust in Him. A time to reflect on the changes we need to make for our betterment and to achieve a higher status in the afterlife. He smiled and kissed my forehead.

After he left, I sobbed like a baby in the kitchen. I reminded myself that the bonds of family were important and Allah was Ar Rahman, the most merciful and anyone who shows mercy to his family, Allah will have mercy on them.

It was challenging, but I didn’t know how else to change the situation or how to change his mother’s heart towards me.

RAMADAN REMINDER:
There is no God but He; let the believers rely upon Allah. [65:3] And give him sustenance from whence he thinks not; and whoever trusts in Allah, He is sufficient for him. Surely Allah attains His purpose; Allah indeed has appointed a measure for everything.
