Shot of Cropped shot two bullet casings on a bloody crime scene floor

There is again outrage following the brutal murder of a Muslim woman identified as Nazreen Fakir Cajee, allegedly by her husband. Many WhatsApp Groups have been formed with communities demanding that he be denied bail.

The Joburg mother was killed with a screwdriver and allegedly had her teeth knocked out by her husband. One of her children, alongside the alleged perpetrator, found the deceased covered in blood. Neighbours were then alerted by the child and arrived at the scene.

Police spokesperson Mavela Masondo said the neighbour had “rushed to the crime scene” and forced their way into the house.

“Upon entering the house, the suspect was sitting in the lounge. The suspect was asked where his wife was. He replied by pointing to the bedroom. The neighbour went to the bedroom and found the victim’s body covered with a blanket. Blood was all over the bedroom floor.”

In conversation with Radio Islam International, the Project Coordinator for the National Shelter Movement of South Africa, Mariam Mangera, said Nazreen had previously opened multiple cases at the Parkview Police Station against her husband for domestic violence. He was also described as violent by the neighbours.

“However, Nazreen had not received the support from family or from the police that she deserved,” she added.

The accused appeared in court last week, and the bail application has been postponed to tomorrow morning.

Protests have been organised, and approval has been given, which will proceed from 9:00 am tomorrow outside the Johannesburg Central Court.

Meanwhile, amidst this tragedy, many WhatsApp groups have started supporting Nazreen and attempting to rally people to oppose the bail application, with many other women voicing their struggle.
