Parents who haven’t registered their children for Grade 1 and Grade 8 for the 2023 academy time now have an opening to do so.

The Gauteng education department says its online admissions system will open for late operations for a month from December 20 for parents who haven’t submitted procedures for grades 1 and 8.

Meanwhile, Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane is prompting parents to accept placement offers as soon as possible to free up space.

At a briefing on Sunday, Gauteng education MEC Matome Chiloane said that 248(87.71) aspirants had been placed while 897(12.29) were unplaced.

According to the department, 485 aspirants who entered placement offers haven’t been accepted. Of these, 868 are grade 1s, with the rest due to start secondary learning.

“Parents are reminded that all placement is subject to the precedence of placement criteria and vacuity of space (capacit) per academy. Thus, aspirants that cannot be accommodated at the seminaries they applied to due to the seminaries having reached capacity, will admit transfer offers of placement at the coming closest academy with available space. Transfer offers are made only after evidence that none of the seminaries which a parent applied to has available space,” he said.
