A Pit bull attack has claimed the life of a one-year-old infant in East London, Eastern Cape, after the neighbour’s dog attacked him.
This was confirmed by the Eastern Cape, who added that this is the third child under the age of 10 killed by a pit bull in the province.
According to sources, the child was playing with the neighbour’s dog when it attacked him in the Gonubie Farm area; the dog then turned on the child biting him in the upper body. Paramedics rushed the boy to the hospital, but the infant didn’t survive.
The police’s Thembinkosi Kinana says, “Subsequent to the incident, the paramedics were called to transport the child to a nearby hospital, where he was reported to have succumbed to injuries sustained.”
Meanwhile, according to the South African National Civic Organisation, Pit Bull owners across the Free State have been given seven days to hand over their pets voluntarily.
