Lamola was briefing MPs on his department’s annual reports of entities. Last month, MPs grilled the justice minister on the processors in place for the Gupta brother’s extradition to South Africa.

“The Gupta brothers are still in custody, and the central authority is in constant engagement with the UAE authorities in processing the matter. It is being processed by the central authority in the UAE and we are hopeful that soon it will go through their court processes,” said Lamola.

The brother – Rajesh and Atul Gupta, were arrested four months ago in Dubai on charges of corruption and fraud related to state capture.

Adding on, Lamola says the department sees positive results in its fight against corruption with the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) assistance.
