Bird flu or avian influenza has been detected in the well knows penguins of Boulders beach in Simons Town, Cape Town.
According to Table Mountain National Park (TMNP), four new cases have been detected while seven others are still being investigated.
There is an estimated number of 3 000 penguins on the beach so the number remains quite low says TMNP.
The park is advising visitors of the beach to refrain from touching the penguins and to remain on the boardwalk while also urging visitors to shower, change their clothes and shoes before visiting other seabird colonies or poultry farms.
So far, the virus has had low detection in humans but are a threat to poultry.
Park authorities say closing the beach is not justified at this point but has advised visitors to adhere to protocols.
