Power restored to areas in Joburg South, says City Power

September 01, 2022

City Power says electricity had been restored in parts of Johannesburg South after the utility reported fixing a fault at one of its substations.

The utility says power had been restored on Thursday for consumers connected to the Nirvana and Nancefield substation. These substations are linked to Eldorado Park, which tripped after the infrastructure caught fire.

City Power’s spokesperson, Isaac Mangena, says an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire.

He added that teams were currently on site to repair the infrastructure and restore power to areas such as Eldorado Park, Devland, Freedom Park, Kliptown, Klipspruit and Pimville.

“We are basically working on the plan to start with the repair this morning and also to ensure that we clear up the damaged infrastructure.” says Mangena.

City Power says they will update the residence when more information becomes available.
