President Joe Biden visited many countries in the Middle East, including the State of Israel. CAIR raises the concern that Biden refused to meet the family of Shireen Abu Akhle. This is a slap in the face of an American citizen who was shot in the line of doing her work.
In discussion with Radio Islam is Ibrahim Hooper, the National Communications Director and spokesman for the Council on American-Islamic Relations, a Washington D.C.-based Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization.
According to Ibrahim, it goes hand in hand with the policy toward the Palestinians and a lack of support for Palestinian Human Rights.
He says the feeling seems to be that if you show empathy to the Palestinians or their Human Rights, somehow you’re attacking Israel, which is a ridiculous situation we have had for decades.
Going on for decades, changes are now being witnessed. A shift in the grassroots support for Palestinian Human Rights is seen, including recognition of what Israeli apartheid is all about.
There are calls from the Biden Administration demanding that the UAE release Virginia’s Civil Rights Attorney, who presented Jamal Kashoggi and is currently incarcerated in the UAE.
According to Ibrahim, a close friend for many years and one of the first Muslims working in the American Congress, the attorney was pulled off a plane by police with no knowledge of the charges against him.
Ibrahim says it was some fabricated charge by this doctoral government that we view as politically motivated.
CAIR’s 7th Annual Maryland’ Muslim Youth Leadership Symposium’ event will take place on Monday, August 22, 2022.
According to Ibrahim, these events are done all over the country, and we are very concerned about educating the youth in terms of having the necessary skills to be an activist, whether it’s media relations, public speaking and all these kind of civic engagement.
He says these skills are taught in these symposiums in a fun way. It’s appreciated by the students and the parents who want to see their young people educated with these skills.
CAIR has also released its updated digital ‘Guide to Islam and Muslims in Oklahoma.’
Ibrahim tells Radio Islam that they have seen a lot of refugees go to Oklahoma, which is not a sizeable Muslim community. People in Oklahoma need to be educated about the basics of Islam, and the experience of American Muslims, which is what the Guide is supposed to be.
