Amnesty International Report Calls Israel’s Treatment of Palestinian’s “Apartheid”

February 03, 2022

By Umamah Bakharia

The South African BDS Coalition has welcomed yet another respected international human rights organization’s report on Israel’s apartheid crimes.

Amnesty International this week published a report entitled ‘Israel’s Apartheid Against Palestinians’. This is the third report in two years to find that Israel commits the crime of apartheid.

Radio Islam spoke to South Africa’s BDS coalition’s, Roshan Dadoo on their approval of Israeli as an apartheid state.

“The Amnesty International report exemplifies the message that [as it is] 300 pages of evidence around the facts [that Israel is an apartheid state],” says Dadoo.

In the last couple of years, firstly, the Israeli Human Rights Organization – B’Tselem and the reports by the Human Rights Watch (HRC) have highlighted with evidence that Israel has been committing ‘apartheid’ crimes as defined by the apartheid convention.

“We are saying to our government, if we accept Israel as an apartheid state as the international community is increasingly doing then we need to isolate them [and] implement boycotts and sanctions and people will look to South Africa because that kind of international solidarity helps us to eliminate apartheid here and support the resistance to people within our country,” says Dadoo.

With the ‘International Israeli Apartheid Week’ coming up next month, the South African BDS coalition is encouraging South African’s to get involved and use this as an opportunity to highlight the oppression of Israeli apartheid and for the South African government to accept Israel as an apartheid state.
