Today, many Zak Park residents have had to spend the fifth day with intermittent electricity to no electricity at all. Between the constant updates and promises residents have had to adapt, this could take another few days before they are back online. Residents have had an uphill battle with service delivery over the years, and as time passes, many echo the same sentiment that they have been forgotten.
This is not the first time, nor will it be the last; for the previous few years, the woes of the residents have turned on deaf ears. One resident laughed and said that if we as residents have water and electricity on the same day, it’s a miracle. Zak Park residents for the last decade has seen their area decline.
Last night, the local ward councillor investigated the matter and regularly updates. The electricity should have been restored early this morning; however, the incomer was tripped.
Ward Councillor has been proactive in establishing an ETA, but it’s a waiting game with many believing the problem to be bigger; unfortunately, there are no answers and residents are urged to be patient. This morning, Lotus power station has had another outage that will impact Zak Park, Lawley, and parts of Lenasia South, as tweeted by City power.
Residents would just like a clear indication from city power or what is happening and if the problem is more significant than initially reported.
