Settler ramming incidents against Palestinians on the rise

Car ramming incidents in Palestine has killed many.

There has been 3 incidents that has occurred in less than 2 weeks.

The lastest has been an insident of a 75 yearl old Palestinian activist who was hit by a vehicle by Israeli police service in the West Bank.

A relative says that ,Suleiman al-Hathalin, known to Palestinians as a veteran protester against Israeli settlements, had stood in front of a tow truck that had been sent to his village of Um El-Kheir on the 5th of January to confiscate unlicensed cars.
The relative, Hazem al-Hathalin, said Suleiman al-Hathalin was struck deliberately by the truck, which “ran him over with its front and back wheels” before driving away.

“It takes us back to what the UN Human Right experts said towards the end of 2021, that 2021 saw the highest levels of settler violence in recent years, emphasizing also the fact that settler violence in the Israeli context [that] Israel being a settler state with deep state support to the illegal settlement empire which fuels the environment and encourages this type of violence,” says Hafiz Ebrahim.

Israel authorizes ‘shoot-to-kill’ policy against Palestinians throwing stones

Palestinian demonstrators hurls stones at Israeli forces amid tear gas during clashes, in the Jordan Valley of the West Bank.

The Israeli military has revised its open-fire policies for the West Bank, officially allowing troops to shoot at Palestinians who had thrown rocks or firebombs at cars, even if the assailants no longer present an immediate threat.

Israeli military spokesperson described the change as a corrective to a situation that allowed suspects to evade justice, experts raised questions over the legality of using lethal force against a person who no longer poses a threat.

“Why has this been [put] into policy? One reason would be that the Israeli army are anticipating a surge in popular violence against the Israeli occupation and that the Israeli courts do no want to deal with such cases and the ongoing investigation by the Israeli criminal court regarding war-crimes and Israel will argue before the international criminal court,” says Hafiz Ebrahim.
