The Federation of Governing Bodies of SA Schools (FEDSAS) also supports other unions’ calls for pupils to be able to attend school full-time rather than the staggered methods used in the previous two years.

It has sparked concerns about the infrastructure of some schools, which has not been updated. It claims that large-scale construction projects will not take place, and that schools will resume in two days.

Many students left out because they couldn’t cope with the system that was put in place during the epidemic, according to FEDSA chairperson Dr. Jaco Deacon who spoke to Radio Islam International.

Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga stated that the Covid-19 protocols in place when the 2021 school year concluded will remain in effect when students return for the 2022 academic year.

The Covid-19 pandemic, according to Motshekga, has had a terrible influence on education during the last two years.

Baxolile Nodada, a DA MP and spokesman on basic education, said that schools should take all necessary efforts to ensure a safe learning and teaching environment so that students can return to school full-time. The DA also encourages all teachers who are able to do so to get completely vaccinated in order to protect themselves, their students, and other staff members.
