Palestine Report: Israel impose travel bans as Omicron variant spreads

November 29, 2021

By Hajira Khota                                                                                                                                                       29.11.2021

Israel announced that it would ban all foreigners from entering the country, making it the first country to do so in response to a new and potentially more contagious corona-virus variant, and that it would use counter-terrorism phone-tracking technology to stop the Omicron variant from spreading.

Hafez Ebrahim Moosa spoke to Radio Islam International; he says that a three-day mandatory quarantine for all vaccinated Israeli nationals, and seven-day quarantine for those who have not been vaccinated, would be necessary in addition to the entry prohibition for non-Israelis.

“This will not only put pressure on travelers but also on Israeli’s”.

Major solar and water deal between Israel, Jordan and UAE

Israel, Jordan, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) announced the largest energy and water agreement between Israel and Jordan since the neighbours made peace 27 years ago.

This would see the Hashemite Kingdom build a massive solar power plant to generate electricity for the Jewish state, while Israel builds a desalination facility to deliver water to Jordan.

“The Abraham Accords of August 2020, which the countries hailed as “starting a new era of cooperation between the United Arab Emirates and Israel,” made the collaboration feasible”.

Minister has called for metal detectors at the Al-Aqsa gates following the Jerusalem shootings

After a Palestinian and an Israeli from South Africa were killed in a shooting incident, an Israeli Minister called for the reinstallation of metal detectors at the gates of Al-Aqsa mosque in occupied East Jerusalem’s Old City.

Israel must ensure that no armed people enter Jerusalem, said Yoaz Hendel, the Minister of Communication.

“The issue of metal detectors needs to be re-examined”.
