Spring has sprung, and for those who want to make the most of gardening this season, we’ve combined a list of things to keep in mind when planting this season.
It can seem like a lot you need to know when you start gardening, and you might find yourself with a thousand questions and ambitious green fingers. However, the good news is that nature is an excellent teacher, and the more you garden, the more you will pick up on what works and what does not.
Site it right: Location is important; choose your gardening spot in a place most convenient for you to access and water. Make sure there is and will be enough space for you to manoeuvre while turning soil and pruning crops.
Consider the sun: Assess how the sunlight changes throughout the day in the area you have chosen to plant. Most plants need at least six hours a day of the sun to survive.
Water: Ensure that your new garden has access to a water source and a hose. To tell if a plant needs water, put your finger an inch down in the soil; if it is dry, it needs water.
Soil: For an immaculate garden, invest in soil that is nutrient-rich and well-drained.
Containers: If you run out of space, use containers to grow, but make sure you use larger ones for the plant it’s hosting.
Type of plant: Choose the right plant to match your growing conditions, climates, and space.
While you consider all of these tips, make sure you also have the essential gardening tools you will require. Happy harvesting!
