Deokaran a senior finance official in the Gauteng Health Department was gunned down just moments after returning from dropping her child off at school.
On Sunday, Gauteng Premier David Makhura told Radio Islam, he would make sure that there was justice for Deokaran.
“We have lost a very outstanding official and I want to say that our law enforcement teams are working, that’s why they arrested seven people out of the killing of Babita Deokaran, a senior official who was really doing great work of pushing back on corruption.”
Hawks spokesperson Captain Ndivhuwo Mulamu said more people are expected to be arrested for the murder.
