A 25-year-old pregnant Palestinian woman detained in an Israeli prison has pleaded for international intervention to set her free to give birth outside prison.

Anhar al-Deek  from Kafr Ni’ma town, west of Ramallah city was detained by Israeli forces five months ago on accusations of attempting to carry out a stabbing attack in an Israeli settlement built near her town.

Deek who is nine-months pregnant sent a letter to her family appealing to human rights defenders to take an action against her imprisonment.

Speaking during the Palestine Report on Radio Islam, the Palestine Information Networks (PIN) Hafez Ebrahim Moosa says no verdict has been passed against Deek and she is still in detention.

“From that time, Israeli soldiers beat her when she was already pregnant, then she was moved to solitary confinement, kept under very harsh conditions. Many long hours of interrogation, no consideration of her being pregnant as well as her psychological state.”

Hafez Moosa says Deek has also not been allowed visitors by Israeli authorities.

“When she was moved to normal detention, Israeli authorities haven’t allowed her husband or family members to visit her accept on one occasion and to add to that, she has a one-year-old child who is at home in addition to her pregnancy. According to her mother, she is in a very difficult psychological state and real fears for her life during her birth.”

Hafez Moosa also spoke about Gazan’s frustration continuing to simmer and international focus on non-Muslim occurring in Masjid-al-Aqsa.
