Former President Jacob Zuma’s corruption trial has been postponed to the 9 and 10 September 2021.
Zuma was set to appear before the Pietermaritzburg High Court on Tuesday morning, but he was hospitalized for a routine check-up last week.
The former president is facing charges of corruption related to a 1999 arms deal made with French company Thales.
The court herd that doctors treating Zuma must provide a report on his health by no later than 20 August.
The State can appoint a doctor to examine Zuma to establish his fitness to stand trial.
Zuma is currently serving a 15-month jail term at the Estcourt Correctional Services Centre for contempt of court over his refusal to appear before the state capture commission of inquiry.
