Johannesburg PR Councillor Zarina Motala says City Power is trying to resolve the electricity outage affecting extension 9 in Lenasia.
Residents have been up in arms after having no electricity since 1am on Wednesday.
It is unclear when electricity will be restored to the area
Motala says there are “huge issues” affecting the restoring of electricity to extension 9.
“I think all attempts had actually failed to restore the affected customers. I was in touch with City Power throughout the night and early this morning and I think they just busy right now trying to restore extension 9 and extension 10.”
Motala says technicians are on site determine what is causing the outage.
“The initial report we received yesterday was about a damaged cable. But it seems like that was not the only issue and it seems like it was an overload.”
It is believed that electricity has been restored to certain parts of extension 9.
