South Africa Records more than 19,500 New COVID-19 Infections

Three hundred and eighty-three more people have died in South Africa after contracting the coronavirus.

These latest fatalities take the country’s known death toll since the start of the pandemic to 60,647.

According The National Institute for Communicable Diseases, South Africa also racked up 19,506 infections over that same timeframe, with the known caseload ballooning to 1,973,972.

On the recovery front, over 1,748,042 people have recuperated.

The NICD says the majority of new cases are in Gauteng with 11,160 infections, followed by the Western Cape with 2,059 cases.
