The Gauteng Provincial Government says Gosiame Sithole who reportedly gave birth to decuplets was never pregnant.

In early June, South Africans and people across the world were fascinated after the Pretoria News reported that Sithole and Tebogo Tsotetsi had become parents to 10 babies born at a private Pretoria hospital.

The Gauteng Provincial Government’s Thabo Masebe says government conducted a thorough check with all hospitals in the province to establish the veracity of the birth and that there were no records of such births at any public or private hospitals in the province.

He says the Gauteng Provincial Government will continue to give medical psychological and social support to Sithole and provide any counselling she may require.

“It has now been established by medical practitioners that Sithole did not give birth to any babies in recent times. It has also been established that she was not pregnant in recent times.”

Masebe says the Gauteng Provincial Government is also deeply concerned by the conduct of Independent Media, particularly the Editor of the Pretoria News Piet Rampedi and has instructed the State Attorney to institute legal action against him and the Independent Group.
