Armed men on Friday night killed roughly 100 people in a raid on a village in Burkina Faso. The BBC reports that homes in the village and the market were burned.
While no group has claimed responsibility for the attack, the blame is increasingly being put on fighters.
Attacks are reportedly on the rise in Burkina Faso. According to the BBC, 30 people died in an attack in the east of Burkina Faso last month. Last night’s attack, however, took place in the north of the country.
Meanwhile, France has been meddling in Africa by ‘supporting’ the militaries of Mali, Chad, Mauritania, Niger as well as Burkina Faso against fighters. Thus far more than 1.14 million people have been displaced in just over two years. Burkina Faso is also host to some 20 000 refugees from neighboring Mali, who had also fled from attacks in that country.
Burkina Faso’s government has declared a 72-hour period of national mourning.
