NGO Gift of the Givers Dr. Sooliman says his mission in life is to serve people unconditionally to the best of his ability no matter what the situation is.
Dr. Sooliman was speaking to Radio Islam on Wednesday after coming to the assistance of Rahima Moosa Mother and Child Hospital in Johannesburg following water disruptions at the facility and surrounding areas.
Gift of the Givers says its drilling teams will be drilling for water at the Rahima Moosa Hospital after it was granted permission by the hospital’s management and infrastructure team to drill for water.
The Gauteng Health Department raised concerns about the water outages and the impact on service provision at its healthcare facilities.
Dr. Sooliman says Gift of the Givers only aim is to help people in need not matter what their situation is.
“It’s a very simple process, to be the best is not an ego issue. You are dealing with human life, human dignity and human pain and suffering. But imagine your wife or your child in a situation in which these patients and the community around the hospital find themselves. You as an individual will you say I can’t do anything now, there’s fatigue, we are tired, we can’t help. You would probably say that if it’s not your family. The moment it becomes your family, you say I need to move mountains to help my wife and my child, I can’t allow this to happen.”
Dr. Sooliman says he wants to educate the new generation to serve people who are suffering across the globe irrespective of race, religion, creed or color.
“When my teams go out, in the old days I used to lead the teams into international disasters, I don’t do that anymore. I say the new generation has to learn, I’m not going to live forever. So the news generation has to learn what to do and how to do and of course the travel with me so they know what to do. They ask me the same question, what must we do and take to the other side. I tell them what would you do for your wife and your child? They say we don’t need to ask anymore questions.”
Dr. Sooliman people must never give up hope no matter how difficult the situation is or how many challenges they face adding that they must make their voices heard through different mediums and eventually a solution will be found.
