Eskom Confirms Stage 1 Load Shedding from 5pm on Wednesday

After issuing a warning on Tuesday of a ‘high probability of load shedding at ‘short notice’, Eskom has confirmed that it will implement stage one power cuts from 5pm to 10pm on Wednesday.

The power utility said that the power cuts is a result of a shortage of generation capacity due to breakdowns and delays in returning generator units to service.

Eskom says teams are working to bring more generators back to service.

“Should the generators not return as expected, further load shedding may be required during the week.

Eskom has urged South Africans to use electricity sparingly and has apologised for any inconvenience.
