Hamas has claimed victory in the conflict with Israel as thousands of people celebrated in Gaza after a ceasefire came into place.
The ceasefire brokered by Egypt was agreed on Thursday evening and came into force on Friday after international pressure to stem the bloodshed by Israel which erupted earlier this month.
According to the Gaza Health Ministry, Israeli strikes on Gaza, since 10 May, have killed 232 Palestinians, including 65 children while 1,900 others were wounded.
Vast areas have been reduced to rubble and about 120,000 people have been displaced, according to Hamas authorities.
Meanwhile there were Eid like scenes and massive celebrations across Palestine as Israel announced the ceasefire to its terrorist assault on Gaza with the Palestinian resistance unbowed and in high spirits.
Middle East Monitor correspondent Motasem Dalloul speaking to Radio Islam on the blessed day of Jumu’ah says calm has restored to Palestine
“Today the Palestinians celebrated the ceasefire because they feel that the Palestinian resistance achieved a victory against the Israeli occupation.
Dalloul say the faith and will of the Palestinian resistance achieved a victory with minimal resources.
“The Palestinians resistance with primary missiles made from primary materials helped the resistance to achieve victory against a country with the largest armies in the world and the most equipped and heavily equipped armies in the world.”
Dalloul says it will take a long time to rebuild Gaza after Israel’s attacks adding that this victory will motivate and inspire Palestinians to continue with their struggle against the apartheid state.
Hamas’ Osama Hamdan says the resistance has forged a new equation and a new victory.
