An Al-Quds activist in Palestine has urged the world to pray for the protection of Masjid Al-Aqsa and the safety of Palestinians.

Moaadh Khateeb was speaking to Radio Islam live from Palestine where Israeli police attacked Palestinian protesters at Islam’s third holiest site in Jerusalem on Monday, the latest in a series of confrontations that is pushing the contested city to the brink of eruption.

Masjid Al-Aqsa came under serious attack by Israeli Occupation forces who stormed the place of worship firing stun grenades and teargas at Palestinians.

Hundreds of Palestinians have been hurt over the past few days with the number of injuries increasing dramatically.

Khateeb says besides condemnation, no Muslim leaders or countries have intervened to stop the attack by Israel or come to the assistance of the Palestinians.

“Unfortunately not at all, no. If such a move was made by anyone, anyone of importance, I am sure that will have an effect because Israel does care about its international image and its diplomatic ties and its interest overseas. But unfortunately even a condemnation by the other Muslim countries we didn’t hear.”

Khateeb says people are being killed inside Al-Aqsa because they simply want to practice their right to worship.

“It’s not really clashes, this is an attack, this is barbarism. This is a brutal assault on unarmed civilians who went to the mosque to pray and around 8:30pm they were attacked brutally in an unprecedented level of brutality.”

Khateeb says Palestinians cannot continue suffering at the hands of Israel.

“When you see your scared place desecrated, when you being imprisoned on the street, when you see your most holy place in the country is being annexed slowly to the benefit of Jewish settlers and if you try just to go inside the mosque to pray you are attacked, you are assaulted, you are terrified!.”

Khateeb has urged Muslims and non-Muslims across the globe to pray for the Palestinians and the safety of Al-Aqsa Masjid.
