Multi-award winning community radio station, Radio Islam International is embarking on a campaign during the blessed month of Ramadan to raise much-needed funds to continue bringing award-winning programmes to the Muslim community in South Africa and across the globe.
Broadcasting for over 23 years, Radio Islam International is the preferred Islamic radio station which offers an alternative perspective on news and current affairs, while at the same time propagating authentic Islamic content from world renowned scholars benefitting hundreds of thousands of people across world.
Radio Islam International is highly regarded in the broadcasting arena in South Africa with many dignitaries in the country electing to use the platform to reach out to various communities.
Like many organisations across South Africa, Radio Islam International, which has a staff compliment of over seventy employees, has also been affected by the devastating economic and financial impact of COVID-19.
The pandemic has put a lot of pressure on the radio station to meet it’s operational costs.
Station manager, Ml Heider Ali Dhorat says many people have benefited from Radio Islam’s diverse programmes.
“The females are benefitting enormously because many of our programmes are male centred. Our programmes in the masjid, Jumu’ah programmes, tabligh programmes are for the men, so the radio station reaches out to the ladies.”
Ml Dhorat says the operational costs of running a community radio station is staggering.
He says South Africans have been actively supporting Radio Islam for over two decades.
“WE appeal to the public to continue supporting this noble venture in the form of Radio Islam and whatever activities it has to offer.”
Radio Islam International has won multiple awards for news, current affairs, lifestyle and Islamic content including community Radio Station of the year twice.
