Eskom has announced that Stage 2 load shedding will be implemented at 5pm on Wednesday afternoon until 11pm on Friday.
The power utility says load shedding follows the loss of generation capacity and to replenish emergency generation reserves.
“Continued poor performance at the Kusile, Duvha and Tutuka power stations as well as delays in returning some other units to service and breakdowns over the last week have cause the need to implement this load shedding. Eskom has had to utilize the emergency generation reserves which are being rapidly depleted.”
Eskom says there is a high probability that load shedding may continue throughout the weekend depending on the plants returning to service from planned maintenance as well as the levels of emergency generation reserves.
