Police are investigating a case of carjacking and murder after receiving a complaint about a dead body at the Lenasia South Clinic.
It is understood officers arrived at the health facility where a nurse led them to a man lying on a stretcher with gunshot wounds on the face.
Police say an eyewitness told them the man was giving his son driving lessons opposite Lehae Power Station when they were accosted by a group of unknown suspects who tried to hijack him before robbing him and opening fire.
The police’s Bafana Ndimande says the suspects fled the scene in the man’s car.
“The unknown male asked for directions and he suddenly took out the car keys from the ignition. He then pulled out a firearm and opened the driver’s door, and he forced him out of the car to the ground. Two other unknown males armed with firearms approached and they instructed the deceased to get out of the car and he refused. They shot him three times and removed him out of the motor vehicle.”
Ndimande has appealed to anyone with information that may lead to the recovery of the motor vehicle and arrest of the perpetrators to contact the police.
