Huawei South Africa Chief Technology Officer Akhram Mohammed says wearable technology is expected to play a bigger role in the health of users.

Mohammad was speaking during the Huawei Better Together 2021 virtual event on Thursday.

With the COVID-19 pandemic infecting millions and claiming hundreds of thousands of lives across the globe, people have been using technology in wearables to keep their health in check post COVID including measuring oxygen levels and heart rates among other tests.

Mohammed says new wearables in 2021 will boast a lot more features, using technology to keep peoples health in check.

“What is next, especially when you’ve done so much already? We’ve pumped in so much into one device. Most certainly you can be able to look forward to new functionality and enhanced capabilities coming in.”

Besides oxygen levels, heart rates, wearables can also record exercise routines and electro cardiograms (ECG) among many other features.
