Eskom has announced it will be implementing stage 2 load shedding from 10pm on Tuesday until 5am on Wednesday to preserve and replenish emergency generation reserves.
In a statement, the power utility says the power generation unit is severely constrained due to breakdown in the past two days including the return to service of some units.
“We currently have 4,858MW on planned maintenance, while another 14,375MW of capacity is unavailable due to due to breakdowns and delays. Eskom expects some of these generation units to return to service tomorrow.”
Eskom suspended load shedding last week following two days of planned power cuts.
The power utility has urged the public to use electricity sparingly as the system remains vulnerable and unpredictable.
