Egypt receives its first 50 000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine

February 03, 2021

A consignment of 50 000 doses of AstraZeneca’s Covid-19 vaccine arrived this week in Egypt as part of a program to vaccinate health workers.

The countries cabinet confirmed reports in the local media that the consignment arrived of Sunday.

Egypt in December received its very first shipment of vaccines from the Chinese pharmaceutical company Sinopharm in China and began immunizing frontline medical staff against Covid-19 on 24 January using the Sinopharm jab.

Egypt contracted 20 million AstraZeneca shots from the serum institute in India though the cabinet did not mention the total order number.
