Sheikh Abdul Salam Bassiouni’s family has confirmed that he is alive and well and recovering at his home in Lenasia.

Rumours have been widely circulated on social media on Friday that Sheikh Bassiouni had passed away, but this is fake news.

Sheikh Bassiouni was admitted to a local clinic with an undisclosed illness but has since been discharged.

His son Bilal says his father is doing well.

“I would like to thank one an all for your duas over this difficult period. Alhamdulillah, Sheikh Bassiouni is doing much better and has returned home from hospital. Alhamdulillah he is slowly recovering. We ask you to continue your duas for his health and for his full recovery.”

In a message to Radio Islam, Sheikh Bassiouni says he is at home and recovering.

“Alhamdulillah I am at home now and Jazak’Allah for your duas. Please continue your dua for me and for all the sick people. Allah reward all of you and make it easy for you.”

The Muslim community has been urged to stop spreading fake news and verify information before sharing it on social media platforms.
