As the Muslim Ummah sadly continues to witness the passing of esteemed Islamic scholars, Radio Islam has paid tribute to Marhoom Ml Hammad Modise (R), believed to be one of the first hufaz who graduated as a complete hafidh in Soweto.
Ml Modise who was a member of the Majlis-e-Tanfidh passed away on Tuesday.
A Muslim revert, Ml Modise completed his hifz and aalim course at Darul Uloom Zakariyya.
He served the community of Mabopane during which time more than seven thousand people had reverted to Islam.
Esteemed Islamic scholar Ml Obedullah Boja says Ml Modise was steadfast in servitude to Allah.
“After graduating, Ml Modise went out in the path of Allah for one year. During that time he saw a dream where he saw Rasulullah (SAW) walking and Moulana was walking behind him along with a huge crowd that was walking behind the two them. Perhaps this was an indication of the amount of people that would revert to Islam at the hands of Moulana during his services.”
Ml Boja says the passing of Ml Modise is a sad loss to the Muslim community of South Africa.
“These are the soldiers of Islam that we make dua to Allah that Allah accept their services. Allah gives us many more servants like this that will serve the deen of Allah. May Allah accept the efforts of Ml Hammad.”
South Africa and the world has lost a number of prominent and esteemed Ulama.
Abdullah bin Amr bin al As (RA) reported Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as saying: “Verily Allah does not take away knowledge by snatching it from the people, but He takes away knowledge by taking away the scholars…” – (Bukhari).
