South Africa’s COVID-19 death toll continues its grim climb with another 513 deaths recorded on Tuesday.
These latest fatalities bring the national Coronavirus death toll to 30,524.
The Health Ministry says another 14,410 infections have been recorded as the country battles the second wave of the pandemic under level 3 of the COVID-19 lockdown.
The latest cases published have pushed the known number of infections since the start of the outbreak to 1,127,759.
The ministry says the recovery rate currently stands 81.7 % meaning that 920,879 people who have recuperated.
Meanwhile, Government communications says there is nothing urgent about Wednesday’s national coronavirus command council (NCCC) meeting.
The GCIS director general on Tuesday announced that members of the joint operations centre will report to the president following rumours that President Cyril Ramaphosa was to address the nation on Monday night.
