Parts of Lenasia Flooded After Heavy Downpours

Parts of Lenasia have been flooded following heavy downpours on Friday.

It’s believed a number of areas have been flooded including Abu Bakr Asvat Drive and the Mosquito Valley area in extension 1.

Joburg Emergency Services has responded to a number of incidents following the flash floods.

Spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi says no injuries have been reported.

“We did receive reports of flash floods in Lenasia extension 1. Some of the houses are reported to have been flooded. Our safety rescue team together with SAPS and our colleagues from JMPD are on site assessing the water levels.”

Mulaudzi says he will provide further updates on possible damages once the assessment is done.
