The United Ulama Council of South Africa (UUCSA) has confirmed that the moon for the Islamic month of Jumaad-ul-Ulaa has been sighted in South Africa.
UUCSA made the announcement on Tuesday evening.
This means that 1st of Jumaad-ul-Ulaa 1442 will be on Wednesday 16 December 2020
Secretary General Ml Ebrahim says the Islamic month of Jumaad-ul-Ulaa is a reminder that we are ever closer to the blessed month of Ramadan.
“We are on the eve of the month of Jumaa-ul-Ulaa. That would be four months before the blessed month of Ramadan. There is no doubt that this year has been a year like no other. I don’t need to elaborate with regard to the circumstances of this year. We make dua that Allah grants relief and grants a cure from this pandemic and from COVID-19 for the entire humanity.”
With many people reflecting on how quickly the painful year of 2020 had passed, Ml Bham says Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) spoke out about this more than fourteen hundred years ago.
“As we see the months are coming and going, Nabi-e-Kareem (SAW) had said ‘one of the signs of qiaamat that time will fly very, very quickly to such an extent that an entire year will be like a few months, months will be like a week, a week will be like few days’ and that is the time that we are in. We are seeing that there is no barakah in time.”
Ml Bham says time is the greatest asset of a believer, adding that Allah takes an oath on time because He has given a formula of success which has to be completed in the framework of time in which a Muslim has to earn in the world and for the hereafter.
