Unrest on the N12

November 04, 2020

Service delivery protests blocked the N12 on Wednesday in both directions near the Samfur bridge in Johannesburg. Residents in the area are angered by the lack of service delivery and have no electricity. While they maintain it is a peaceful strike protesters are burning tyres in the road and have stoned vehicles passing through the area.

Tensions are high as this major highway remains blocked; authorities are working to clear the road before the peak hour traffic. Protesters say they will disperse once electricity has been restored.
