September 23, 2020

25 people have been killed in central Nigeria after a fuel tanker exploded following a collision with other vehicles. The BBC reports that primary school children are among the dead. Several victims were burnt beyond recognition.

The accident occurred on Wednesday morning on a major highway in Lokoja.  Police say the brakes on the tanker had failed, causing the driver to lose control of it.

The BBC reports that In June, four people were killed in Lagos, after two petrol tankers collided. Another tanker carrying natural gas also caught on fire as a result of that accident.
