Jordan Hotel Sees Hundreds of Guests Quarantined after Chef Infected

September 03, 2020

Guests at a hotel in Amman, Jordan have been compelled to quarantine for a further 14 days after a chef at the hotel tested positive for the coronavirus.

300 guests had already been quarantined in the hotel for two weeks. Their quarantine will now be extended at the 5-star hotel.

Al Arabiya reports that the hotel will foot the cost of $99 per person per night, for all of the 300 guests for the additional 14-day quarantine period.

Despite strict preventative measures, Jordan has seen a substantial increase in coronavirus infections in recent weeks. The country’s international airport was shut down, and 24-hour lockdowns had been imposed. Nevertheless, Jordan is to resume international flights as of September 8 in an attempt to revive it’s economy, which has come under strain as a result of the pandemic. According to Al Arabiya travelers will be required to present a negative coronavirus test taken within 72 hours of travel. They will also undergo another test upon arrival in Jordan.
