The Head of Department at the Al Aqsa Nursery and Preschool in Lenasia Extension 13, has told Radio Islam that the kids have adjusted very well to the new normal under COVID-19.
Over 2 million grade R, 6 and 11 pupils returned to the classrooms in July after almost four months at home.
Al Aqsa HOD Apa Fatima Sayed says parents need to be confident and trust the teachers, as the school is following all the regulations and protocols in line with the Health Department.
“To avoid the long queues outside, we’ve made it easy for parents by sending home the checklist where parents will tick off the checklist and we only check temperatures, write the temperatures down and kids move quickly and easily to their classrooms.”
Apa Sayed says the Basic Education Department has provided the school with a revised curriculum for the academic year.
“Educators have been doing a fantastic effort with regards to WhatsApp teaching. So I am confident when I say our learners will make a smooth transition into Grade R and Grade 1
Apa Sayed says the kids themselves are happy to be back at school not only to meet their friends whom they have missed but also to continue with their education.
