The fire that broke out at a block of flats at the Grey Street Masjid building in Durban KwaZulu-Natal has been contained.

It’s believed that the fire started in one of the flats inside the building on Monday.

Trustee of the Grey Street Masjid, Dr AV Mohamed says no casualties have been reported

“With the grace of Almighty Allah, the mosque is not affected in anyway and no water damage or anything whatsoever as the mosque constitutes a separate building. There were seven flats that were affected. The seven flats caught fire from flat number three and it moved to the adjoining flat.”

Dr Mohamed says the cause of the fire has not yet been established.
