At the same time, Wits University has launched its second Covid-19 vaccine trial, testing an experimental shot made by US biotech company Novavax, supported in part by a $15-million or about R261-million grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Prof Shabir Madhi, Executive Director of the SAMRC Vaccines and Infectious Diseases Analytics Research Unit at Wits spoke to Radio Islam regarding this vaccine trial.

Many Muslims are also waiting for the complete opening of congregational prayers without restrictions, Prof Madhi says it all depends on which direction this Virus takes.
