Gauteng has now recorded the highest number of recoveries in the country with 102,614 while the national recoveries has also increased to 287,313 which translates to 62,5% of the total infections in the country.
The Health Department has also announced that the number of COVID-19 infections in South Africa has risen to 459,761.
This is an increase of 7,232 from Monday’s announcement.
The number of deaths has also increased by 190 bringing the total to 7,257.
Gauteng has the most infections with 164,584 followed by Western Cape at 92,983, Eastern Cape at 75,067, KwaZulu-Natal 68,101, Free State 18,134, North West 17,791, Mpumalanga 11,552, Limpopo 7,502, Northern Cape 3,997 and unallocated infections 50.
Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize says the total number of COVID-19 tests conducted to date is 2,830,635 this is an increase of 28,424 which were done in the last 24 hours.
“Regrettably, we report a further 190 COVID-19 related deaths: 11 from Eastern Cape, 55 from Gauteng, 62 from KwaZulu Natal, 49 from Western Cape and 13 from the North West. This brings the total number of COVID-19 related deaths to 7,257.”
Mkhize has expressed his condolences to the affected families of those who have succumbed to the pandemic.
