The Presidency has announced that President Cyril Ramaphosa will address the nation at 8pm on Thursday on developments in South Africa’s risk-adjusted strategy to manage the spread of COVID-19.
The President’s address follows a number of meetings of the Cabinet and the National Coronavirus Command Council.
COVID-19 has infected almost 400,000 South Africans while 5,940 people have died from the disease.
On Wednesday, South Africa recorded 572 new fatalities from COVID-19, the highest number of deaths in a day.
Gauteng has the most infections with 144,582 followed by Western Cape at 87,847, Eastern Cape at 67,818, KwaZulu-Natal 50,521, Free State 12,332, North West 15,073, Mpumalanga 8,286, Limpopo 5,712, Northern Cape 2,727 and unallocated infections 50.
