Coronavirus: Shopping Mall, Bank Shut in Makkah

July 10, 2020

Makkah authorities have shut down a major mall in the holy city after cases of the novel coronavirus were detected among it’s employees. The famous mall, in Al Azizia, has been closed for sanitizing. It’s expected to remain closed for at least a week.

Meanwhile, a well-known bank in Al Shara district of Makkah, will close for sanitization on Sunday, after one of it’s employees tested positive. Gulf News reports that another employee contracted the virus after having been in contact with the first. He transmitted it to his family. The two infected employees have been placed in isolation in their homes. The rest of the bank’s employees are awaiting their results.

Saudi Arabia reopened for business, with strict measures having been put in place, last month.

Health authorities in the Kingdom have recorded a total of 223,327 coronavirus virus infections, with 2,100 related deaths.
