A 19-year-old woman said she was wearing a hijab and a mask when she ordered a beverage at the Starbucks inside the St. Paul Midway Target. As all Starbucks orders require a name to be written on the cup, she had repeatedly said her name and spelt it out multiple times.

When her drink arrived the name, ISIS appeared on the cup, Aishah then spoke to the manager on duty who brushed it of as a mistake and nothing more.  In a recent interview with CNN Aishah said that it could not just have been a mistake as her name is a common one, and she had pointed out the fact that she had repeated and spelt her name numerous times.

The store simply apologised and gave her a new drink and a gift card and then escorted her to the exit on the day. Later on, Target sent a statement saying, “very sorry for the guests experience.” They have also said that they have investigated the accusation and have found it to be human error that could be avoided. They added that they will take it up with the barista.”

The term ISIS is said to sometimes be used as a racial slur in the community which has a large East African and Somali Muslim population.
