Madinah Nurse Succumbs to Covid-19

June 15, 2020

A Saudi female nurse Nujood Al-Khaibari Nujood, who had been working in the health sector in the Holy city of Madinah, succumbed to coronavirus last week.

45 year old Nujood is survived by three daughters and a son. Ambassador to the United States Princess Reema Bint Bandar joined scores of mourners in grieving her. She tweeted: We mourn Nujood’s loss and remember her brave sacrifice; healthcare heroes are battling the global #Covid19 pandemic. Rest in peace #Nurse Nujood AlKhaibari.

The Saudi Gazette reports that nurse Nujood Al-Khaibari was admitted to Uhud Hospital in Madinah, after having tested positive for coronavirus. It was at the same hospital that she worked on the frontline to save the lives of others.

One of her nieces, Dalal, with whom Nujood lived said, “Nujood was infected with coronavirus a week ago and was in critical condition until we received the news of her demise. We supplicate to Almighty God to shower mercy on her and accommodate her in Paradise.” Her nephew Omar said, “Nujood deserves all the words of love and gratitude for her dedication to work over 15 years in serving the health department in the Holy city.”

Meanwhile, a Saudi male nurse, Khaled Abdullah Al-Husseini, who worked at King Abdulaziz Hospital in Makkah, died last month after having been infected with the coronavirus.
