The Health Department has announced that the number of COVID-19 infections in South Africa has risen to 20,125
This is an increase of 988 from Thursday’s announcement.
The number of deaths has also increased by 28 bringing the total to 397
The Western Cape has the most infections with 12,888, followed by Gauteng at 2,521, KwaZulu-Natal 1,735, Free State 185, North West 80, Mpumalanga 98, Limpopo 120, Eastern Cape 2 459, Northern Cape 39 and unallocated infections 0.
The total number of recoveries to date is 10,104
Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize says the total number of COVID-19 tests conducted to date is 543,032 this is an increase of 17,599 which were done in the last 24 hours.
“Regrettably we report a further 28 COVID-19 related deaths- this brings the total national deaths to 397.”
Mkhize has expressed his condolences to the affected families and appreciation to the health workers who treated the patients.
