COVID-19 Deaths Spike by 30 to 369, Infections Jump to 19.137

The Health Department has announced that the number of COVID-19 infections in South Africa has risen to 19,137

This is an increase of 1,134 from Wednesday’s announcement.

The number of deaths has also increased by 30 bringing the total to 369.

The Western Cape has the most infections with 12,153, followed by Gauteng at 2,453, KwaZulu-Natal 1,693, Free State 184, North West 77, Mpumalanga 95, Limpopo 121, Eastern Cape 2 324, Northern Cape 37 and unallocated infections 0.

The total number of recoveries to date is 8,950.

Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize says the total number of COVID-19 tests conducted to date is 525,433 this is an increase of 18,572 which were done in the last 24 hours.

“Regrettably, we report 30 more COVID-19 related deaths- this brings the total national deaths to 369.”

Mkhize has expressed his condolences to the affected families.
